New Author Blazes The Christian Fiction Trail With Her Book, He's Fine...But Is He Saved?

Detroit, MI (BlackNews.com) - And so you've spent your days pondering, wondering if and when you'll meet Mr. Right. Yes, Mr. Right may sound kind of superfluous, but for author Kimberley Brooks, and at least 25% of the nation's single Christian-women, they say they are looking for something beyond the extreme: They are looking for a God-fearing man who must be saved.

With Valentine's Day fast approaching, Brooks' new novel entitled He's Fine...But Is He Saved? is likely to become one the nation's best sellers.

Brooks, 28, said her motivation for writing the book stems from her life's experiences and observations of other single Christian women all in pursuit of finding a suitable and compatible mate.

"I used to do the club scene before I was saved and I went out with a lot of different guys, but once I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior and received teaching from the Word of God, I viewed relationships differently," Brooks said.
Brooks' purpose and inspiration unfolds into a tale of three Christian women and the relationships they cultivate. Sandy, Liz and Michelle are friends who are at different levels in their Christian walk.

Sandy is the babe in Christ who attracts men who are only interested in sex; Liz is the seasoned believer who has given up on men and can be a bit judgmental at times, and Michelle seemingly has it all together but discovers, after dating her church's most eligible bachelor who she thought was "the One", that she has some internal issues of her own.
"Not only is the book centered around the three women, the books encourages everyone to dig a little deeper. If someone says they are saved, what kind of fruit are they bearing? There are men and women who say they are God fearing, but the book begs the question: is Jesus truly the Lord of your life? If He is then that means you fear the Lord behind closed doors," Brooks said.

LaRhonda Carter, 34, of Detroit said she had not heard about He's Fine...But Is He Saved? but after learning of the book, she could hardly conceal her excitement.

"What? Where can I buy this book?" Carter said. "This is an important topic because these men out here have the potential to be the 'heads of the households' and many women are looking for a man that is going to be dependable, reliable and God-fearing."

Llewellyn Jones, 30, of Farmington Hills said the book has been an inspiration to him. He enjoyed reading it and has purchased several copies for his female co-workers and friends.

"Yes, the book's target audience may be single women, but the book can be a blessing to any man who reads it as well," Jones said. "It demonstrates we can incorporate biblical principles in our everyday lives. It additionally provides instruction, but not in a preachy kind of way."

Both Carter and Jones agree, that the book clearly raises the bar for men, ushering them into a new level of consciousness as it pertains to dealing with the opposite Saved-sex.

Jones said: "The book challenges men both saved and unsaved to change their approach. It's not enough to say 'hey girl, how you doin' can I get your number?' He's Fine...But Is He Saved? moves us in the direction how women want men of substance: Those who know their value and worth in Christ."

Busy about the Lord's work, Brooks, Detroit's hometown Christian-girl, has been blazing the trail practicing what she preaches: Abstinence. She is a graduate of Detroit's Renaissance High School and Michigan State University and she is a graduate of Southfield-based Word of Faith Bible Training Center. Through her own ministry dubbed Driven Enterprises, she is quickly becoming a sought-after workshop facilitator and motivational speaker.

Brooks' increasingly-popular book has reached the hands of more than 10,000 readers within a year. Now in its fifth printing, He's Fine...But is He Saved? retails for $12.95 and is available at Waldenbooks and Borders Inc. nationwide. Read a free excerpt on www.KimontheWeb.com

RAWSISTAZ, RAW Rating: 4 (out of 5)
He's Fine...But Is He Saved is a fast-paced book that deals with real life issues. What I enjoyed most about the book was that the issues were easy to relate to. Anyone reading this book could see herself in one of these characters. Although the issues at hand were at times tough to deal with, they knew that God had their back, and if they just trusted in Him all else would fall into place. Reviewed by Eraina B.
